24_06_2008 TOREX UPDATES CRITICAL MERCHANDISE MANAGEMENT SOLUTION PLATFORM FOR JJB SPORTS
DUNSTABLE, U.K. – June 24th, 2008 - Torex Retail Holdings Limited (Torex™), the leading European-based global provider of software and solutions to the extended retail marketplace, has installed new HP servers and performed an Oracle database migration for the existing merchandise management and business intelligence systems at JJB Sports PLC, one of the leading high street sports retailers in the UK.
“Access to accurate and timely information on merchandise sales, stock levels and store performance is crucial to making the right management decisions:,” said Mark Macaulay, IT Director, JJB Sports. “We have already seen performance improvements from moving to the new solution platform, with reporting tasks now 25 to 50 percent faster to complete. The management team has rapid access to information, and we can respond to the needs of the business and our customers more swiftly.”
The Torex solutions are based on a new IT infrastructure, comprising HP Itanium servers and Oracle 10g databases, connected to an existing Storage Area Network (SAN) from EMC. This upgrade replaces JJB’s existing servers, which host the Torex merchandise management solution and business analysis tools. The upgrade was deployed with minimal downtime and no impact on the wider user community.
“We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with JJB Sports with this upgrade that will continue to deliver value for the company into the future,” commented Graeme Cooksley, President and Chief Operating Officer, Torex. “The project involved creating a full upgrade path for JJB that would improve application performance and ultimately raise the level of service that the company can provide.”
