Key processes include store planning; grading; assortment planning; order management; order tracking via critical path management; as well as in-season reforecasting and open to buy management. The Torex solution provides an intuitive user interface to the planning and decision process that enables each individual in the organisation to follow a process workflow relevant to their role.

This workflow navigator can be built and adjusted to suit each company's unique approaches to the planning process. The workflow can call upon any part of the solution in any sequence, which ensures the users can access precisely the right information they require regardless of where it resides in the database.

The application is designed to allow the retail teams to transform the strategic vision into actions for each department area, whilst balancing the strategy against the channel development plans. The complementary plans can then be merged into detailed channel/product plans that enable the teams to fine tune the product mix for each store. Using the detailed product/channel information, the teams can automatically generate a grading structure appropriate for each product area. The resultant grade level information is then used along with visual merchandising guidelines and stock holding targets to calculate an optimum range width and depth for each product area.

The assortment planning functionality represents some of the most advanced range building calculations available, whilst maintaining a friendly user interface. Products can have a detailed set of characteristics and attributes attached, as well as a wide variety of cost components. The optimum buy quantities can be automatically calculated, accounting for the duration of the sales period, the planned distribution, and the rate of sale.

The assortment planning solution contains a variety of unique calculations and capabilities to account for some of the detailed and unique requirements of today's retailers. Functionality includes: 'zone groups' for different selling periods of stores within the chain; advanced size management to account for regional variances in demand for products sizes; optimised purchase order calculations based on consumer demand to identify precisely when stock should be delivered.

The in-season capabilities of the solution should be seen as a core requirement for the buying and merchandising teams in any retail organisation. The instant visibility of the past and forecast weekly stock sales and intake information at any level of the merchandise hierarchy should be considered as pivotal to an organisation's ability to react profitably to changing patterns of consumer behaviour.
